An asbestos surveyor you can trust
Hi, I’m Mark and founder of Guard Environmental. With extensive knowledge in the asbestos industry, I’m here to help homeowners, landlords, business owners and HSE officials identify, manage and remove asbestos (or suspected asbestos containing materials, ACMs).
Thanks to its widespread use in the past, asbestos is not uncommon in UK buildings. But unfortunately, it is a health and safety risk – especially when surveyors are not utilised.
The services of an asbestos surveyor encompass everything from asbestos surveys, accredited testing and removals, to carrying out annual inspections and formulating compliant management plans.
No matter the services chosen, with Guard you can expect a clean and efficient process suitable for all types of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. I always ensure the safest and most effective route is taken to identify, test, manage or remove asbestos and suspected ACMs.

Reviews of Guard Environmental
Over the past decades I’ve helped an array of clients with their asbestos management requirements. Read what they had to say…
“Mark provided me with a very professional and friendly service.
His report following the survey was excellent, he obviously is very knowledgeable in his field, and a really nice guy too.”
“Fantastic service from this company. Mark and Lee arrived promptly and went above and beyond to help clear my garage before they started work on my garage roof.
The process of the removal and safe disposal was clearly explained and the area left clean and tidy on completion of the job. Would highly recommend this helpful and friendly team..”
“Mark was fantastic from start to finish. Professional and friendly, he arranged samples quickly and results were sent through faster than I had expected. Would absolutely recommend him. Thanks again!”
“Great service. Mark is a very pleasant chap who took time to explain the work required after a thorough survey.
All work was professionally completed with full explanation as to what was done and how any hazardous materials (asbestos etc.) were removed and to be disposed of by himself. Nice guy. Recommended.”
“Mark was excellent, turned up exactly as promised, gave us good advice and a very fast testing service, results back promptly. We would have no hesitation in recommending him to others.”
“We found that MARK arrived promptly as arranged to remove our asbestos sheeting from an integral garage ceiling. The price was fixed beforehand so there were no surprises.Mark carried out the removal within the timescale claimed and performed a full hoover clean up afterwards. The offending material was taken away for official disposal (receipts seen) so we were very happy with the service.”
Where is asbestos commonly found?
Asbestos is found in lots of places in the UK – even some you might not expect. But it’s not always visible and sometimes difficult to identify, which is why asbestos surveyors come in handy. For example, it’s often present in:
- Roofs
- Sheds
- Water tanks and boilers
- Artex ceilings and walls
- Soffits
- Fascia
- Guttering
- Downpipes
- Rope seals and gaskets
- Asbestos lagging
If you suspect there are asbestos containing materials in your property, it’s best to get in touch with a qualified professional.
Why is asbestos considered dangerous?
Asbestos is considered dangerous because of the health risks posed. Asbestos materials contain fibres which can be released and become airborne if the material is disturbed. This can happen during the demolition or renovation of buildings. Or when a material is broken up without the proper care required, for example with at-home asbestos testing kits.
The release of asbestos fibres heightens the risk of exposure, specifically of inhaling the fibres themselves, which causes a number of respiratory issues. Exposure puts you at an increased risk of developing lung cancer, asbestosis and mesothelioma which can prove fatal in the worst cases.
Due to the health and safety risks involved, asbestos surveyors are recommended for dealing with any suspected or confirmed ACMs, as they know and abide by UK asbestos regulations.
Employing sufficient risk assessments, using approved PPE and working in accordance with the correct protocols all make a significant difference to the safe management of asbestos in your property.
Everyone who deals with asbestos on behalf of Guard is fully qualified, experienced and aware of the health and safety risks of this hazardous material. We take all the necessary steps, following up-to-date laws and asbestos regulations, in order to minimise risk – both to ourselves and to you, the customer.
